Enjoy a day of exploring the latest advances in neuroscience, combined with millennia old wisdom to skillfully and lovingly disrupt stressful thought patterns and radically change your relationship with difficult emotions . As meditators, we often put too much of the wrong kind of effort into meditation - striving to control the mind. But there is a natural kindness and intelligence imbued in our mind-heart which can easily be missed. Our job is to discover the clarity and wisdom within - so rather than trying to overrule the mind-heart, we can befriend it — open up to it with kindness, get to know it better, and see how it operates so the mind becomes a friend rather than the enemy. The practice of Mindfulness and Compassion offers a new and more fruitful direction for both novice and experienced meditators. It's proven effective at treating anxiety, stress and depression, as well as offering an approach to life in the every day with renewed strength, vigour and equanimity. Expect insightful teachings and discussions, plenty of space to practice together, and practices for you to take-away and fold into your daily life. Day and Time Sunday 14th July 10.30am - 5pm * You may also want to also join the themed workshop on the Saturday and make it a weekend retreat. Option to stay overnight at The Granary – Please contact The Granary direct to arrange this. Location The Granary is a converted barn situated behind a 17th Century Manor House set on a farm. It has a deep presence of stillness and is an ideal place to experience being in silence, especially for the first time. We are one mile from Junction 13 of M1 and equidistant from Milton Keynes and Bedford. Price The price for the one-day retreat is £65 (please bring a light lunch). About Deborah Deborah has over 23 years of meditation practice and 20 years’ experience as group facilitator. She trained as a mindfulness teacher in 2015, and went on to study with and teach for Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach at Banyan Together (was Cloud Sangha). She regularly attends silent retreats to deepen and integrate her own practice. She is wildly enthusiastic about the power and benefits of taking time to be in silence and loves taking groups into silence on her courses, one day and residential retreats. She enjoys talking too, especially with people who are searching for deeper meaning and purpose in their lives, and who want to live their full potential as well as experiencing happiness and joy
