The Importance of Ritual
Like so many, I watched some of the King's Coronation last week. Well...truth be told - it was on in the background and I missed most of it, while nattering with a friend over a very british tea.
I'm not a royalist in any way, and I have MANY opinions about the extravagance of it all - especially during this time of struggle for so many. BUT, if there's ever an opportunity to down tools and gather together in community, I'm all in.
I'm also a great believer in ritual and honouring transitions, so I was intrigued to see how much symbolism there was. Rituals can keep us rooted in what is essential and are always opportunities for transformation.
I believe it’s essential to have some kind of ritual in our lives. Rituals are a way of showing that we care about something and that we want to do it even if we’re not really feeling like it (Charles looked fairly reluctant tbh!). Rituals are also an opportunity to reflect on our values, beliefs and priorities. By connecting with these things through daily actions, they become more real.
So while this event meant little to me, it was clear it meant a great deal to a lot of people, and I respect that. Oh, and the cake ! :)
What rituals are you creating and honouring in your life right now?
